Playa Caracas – Viesques

Playa Chiva - Vieques

To get the most out of your Puerto Rico experience, take an overnight trip to Vieques, a small island off the east coast of the main island.  Rent a car or golf cart to drive around and explore the pure beaches on this paradise within paradise!  Playa Caracas was our favorite because of the views, wild horses, and covered patios with picnic tables and grills.  You and your family could easily spend the day at this location.  Bring food and drink so you don’t have a reason to leave this bit of paradise.

Playa Chiva - Vieques

Playa Chiva – Vieques

Playa Chiva is another favorite on Vieques.  This beach is very private, and natural.  There are no buildings, grills or other signs of civilization.  It’s a great spot to truly relax, enjoy nature, and take in some amazing sunsets.  Like many beaches on Vieques, it is secluded so bring water and snacks so you can spend more time here relaxing.

Playa Tamarindo - Guanica

Playa Tamarindo – Guanica

Playa Tamarindo is located in a remote area outside of Guanica, in the southwest corner of the island. For me personally, its worth the drive!  I would plan to spend the day here, so bring food, water, drinks and maybe a good book.  Once you park, it is a short hike to get to the beach.  Once you are on the beach, there are opportunities to explore the area on foot.  You will find some stunning rock formations, trails, and of course the warm Caribbean water.
